Contribute, host, and share what you are learning

Exchange of Ideas is not a brand. It is a pattern: people gathering on purpose to practice better conversations. You are invited to adapt it, remix it, and report back what you find.

Host your own Exchange of Ideas

You can run an exchange anywhere: a kitchen table, a classroom, a community center, a chat server. Here is a light structure you can keep or bend.

Setup

  1. Gather 3 to 8 people who want to listen as much as they talk.
  2. Choose one question that matters to someone in the group.
  3. Agree to basic ground rules: no insults, no recording without consent, and genuine curiosity.
  4. Decide on a time limit and a way to keep track of turns.

Flow

  1. Round 1: each person gets 2 or 3 minutes to share without interruption.
  2. Round 2: questions only. No speeches, just clarifying and curious questions.
  3. Round 3: open conversation with shared airtime.
  4. Closing: each person names one thing that shifted or became clearer.

Suggested conversation contract

You are free to adapt this, but start here if you want something simple:

  • We will treat every person here as more important than any idea.
  • We will argue with claims, not with identities.
  • We will share airtime and invite quieter voices in.
  • We will say "I do not know" when that is the truth.
  • We will leave still thinking, not just more certain.

Share your formats, questions, and lessons

If you have run a gathering, tried a practice from the site, or created your own way of doing exchanges, you can share it here. The best ideas will be added to the public library so others can try them.
